This lot includes 7 different photographs, published by the US Government in 1972 & 1973. Each measures 8 b8 10 inches. The backs of each picture is marked: “NASA – NATIONAL AERONAUTICS AND SPACE ADMINISTRATION…U.S. GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE: 1973.” These were purchased from the estate of a retired NASA employee, along with hundreds of other reports, documents and photos dating from the 1960s to the 1980’s. These ALL pertain to the Apollo 17 mission, which was the LAST time man set foot on the moon. One photo pictures the crew: Gene Cernan, Ron Evans and Harrison Schmitt. This one is dated 1972, and was printed just prior the launch. (The back states that launch is scheduled for Dec. 6, 1972. However the launch was delayed a day, and did not take place until Dec. 7th.) PLEASE NOTE: this photo showing the crew has tan stains on the front and back. Also – the autographs were most likely made with an “auto pen”, a device authorized to accurately reproduced signatures. The other pictures were taken by the crew during the flight, and printed & distributed by NASA, shortly after the safe return of the astronauts. Aside from the picture of the crew, the others are in GOOD condition, with slight soiling. A few are very slightly puckered on one edge from moisture or humidity. These pictures are guaranteed to TRUE VINTAGE, actually printed in 1973 for publicity and educational use.
